SMS / Messaging Policy
Last updated: March 1, 2026
Who sends the messages
Cupiro text messages are sent by Sakamoto Labs LLC using a US toll-free number provisioned through Twilio Inc. Every message we send identifies Cupiro as the sender.
What we send
- Verification codes — six-digit one-time codes sent when you sign up, log in from a new device, or change account-critical settings.
- Security alerts — when we detect a sign-in from a new device or location.
- Match and conversation notifications — only when you have explicitly enabled SMS notifications in Settings. You can turn these off at any time in-app.
We never send marketing or promotional SMS. No newsletters, no upsell campaigns, no third-party offers.
How you opt in
You provide your mobile number at one of two points and explicitly agree to receive SMS at each:
- Phone verification at sign-up. On the phone-entry page, immediately below the number field, we display: “By tapping Send Code, you consent to receive a one-time verification SMS from Cupiro. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to opt out. See our Messaging Policy and Privacy Policy.” Tapping the button is the opt-in action.
- Match and conversation notifications. Off by default. You can turn them on under Settings → Notifications; the toggle's caption restates the consent language above.
The full opt-in screen — exactly as the user sees it — is mirrored on our public SMS Opt-In page so reviewers (Twilio, wireless carriers) can audit the consent flow without needing an account.
Message frequency
Frequency varies based on your activity. Most accounts receive fewer than 5 messages per week. Verification codes are one-off per request. Match notifications are throttled to at most one every 30 minutes per recipient.
Carrier charges
Message and data rates may apply through your wireless carrier. Cupiro does not charge you for receiving SMS, but your carrier may. Wireless carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.
How to opt out
- Reply STOP to any Cupiro text message. You will receive one confirmation message that you have been opted out, and we will stop sending you SMS within one business day.
- Reply HELP to any message for support contact info.
- Email support [at] cupiro [dot] com if you can't reply to the message (e.g., you changed phone numbers).
- Opting out of SMS will not delete your Cupiro account, but it will disable any flow that relies on SMS — including phone-verification-based login. You can re-enable SMS later by replying UNSTOP or START.

Privacy of your number
Your mobile number is used by Cupiro only for the messages above. We share it with Twilio Inc. (our SMS delivery provider) strictly to deliver these messages, under a data-processing agreement. We do not share your number with other Cupiro users, advertisers, data brokers, or any third party for marketing. See our Privacy Policy for the full data-handling terms.
